BRAIN TRAUMA
Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs) is a critical public health and socio-economic problem throughout the world. TBI can occur in many ways: from sports-related activities, traffic accidents, or even from a simple fall on a hard surface. The severity of the injury can vary greatly, and can be difficult to assess accurately.
Injury to the blood-brain barrier is common after TBI, and has been reported to be associated with complications and long-term sequela.
Emagix developed algorithms that can provide an objective means of assessing blood-brain barrier integrity following a TBI. Multiple scans may provide the opportunity to evaluate the individual's recovery progress, and could potentially provide an objective means of determining who are the patients in high risk for complications, and when an athlete may return to play.
